And down the stretch they come…! Cardiff’s award winning theatre company, Hijinx, are back out on the touring circuit with a brand new Street Theatre work ‘Grumpy Unicorns’. The rainbow riot will be making its German debut this weekend (11-12 Sept), appearing at the Alles Muss Raus! Festival in Kaiserslautern.
It’s been almost 2 years since the touring juggernaut has left Wales, and these Unicorns are chomping at the bit!
As beautiful as moonlight, Unicorns hold a special place in our collective imaginations. And it turns out they are real! But they’ve got beef.
“We’re Unicorns, get over it. We know what you want: to pet us and take pictures and use our magic. But we have had enough! Just leave us alone.”
Grumpy Unicorns is what it says on the tin; the magic of discovering unicorns are in fact real (!), and humanity’s consequence for failing to take them seriously.
The performance features an inclusive cast of 4, including Hijinx’s South Academy actors Fiona Wilson and Jonathan Pugh alongside clown extraordinaire George Orange and Ellen Groves who originated the whole idea.
Grumpy Unicorns premiered at Chapter Arts Centre (Cardiff) this July, and audiences told us it was a sure winner:
"Hijinx have provided a completely new perspective on unicorns and it's one that is full creativity, humour and fun. Enjoyment is guaranteed!"
"Great to have live stuff happening again, and something as joyful as fluffy human hybrid unicorns! You could tell both spectators and performers had a great time."
