About

Arts Council of Wales in partnership with Welsh Government is pleased to invite arts organisations, buildings and venues across Wales, to apply for capital funding.

We are looking to award up to £8million in funding to support the improvement of the Capital infrastructure in the Arts sector in Wales for the 2025/26 financial year.

Crucially any application must demonstrate the project can be completed this financial year with evidence of expenditure submitted to Arts Council of Wales by 5 March 2026.

Please read our guidelines (found below in the Help section) to understand the funding priorities of this fund.

Please refer also to our Standard Conditions of Grant for Capital Projects (found below in the Help section) to understand the terms successful projects would be subject to.

Who can apply?
This funding is only for arts organisations, buildings and venues based in Wales.

What will funding support?

Examples of projects that we will consider include:

  • Enhancing, improving, critical maintenance and refurbishing existing arts buildings and venues, especially where these changes support community integration, children, young people and families.
  • Contributing towards feasibility studies for strategic capital projects to enable organisations to investigate the viability of their ideas further.
  • Purchasing or upgrading equipment, as well as developing digital transformation, including digital based assets.
  • Improving facilities and purchasing equipment that will specifically enhance the accessibility of arts buildings or have a positive impact on reducing carbon footprint.

You must also meet the eligibility criteria and priorities as set out in our guidelines.

How much can I apply for?

  • For applications up to and including £250,000 you can apply for up to 90% of your eligible costs.
  • For applications over £250,000 we expect to fund up to 75% of your eligible costs.

We have not set a maximum level of funding you can apply for; however any application must be able to demonstrate why the level of funding is appropriate to the project.

You will also need to show you have all other funding in place, and that you can deliver the project in full and provide invoices by 5 March 2026.

When can I apply?
The fund will open on Thursday 5 June 2025 and will close at midday on Wednesday 2 July 2025.

To apply you must get in touch first with details about your project to access a link to the application form to complete and submit along with the required documents that we will send you.

Please read our guidance about whether your project is right for this funding and what you need to prepare an application.

If it is, please get in touch with the Capital team first at capital@arts.wales with a short brief about your project, telling us what you want to apply for, the value of the project and the amount you wish to apply for.
