An Introduction to Contracts and Copyright

For who?

The session is open to new and experienced writers living and working in Wales.

Aim

A session for new and experienced writers who are looking for a better understanding of contracts and copyright. We will touch on contracts across a broad range of writing genres including television, film, theatre, books and games as well as contracts for authors who work in Wales.

 

By the end of the session you should have:

  • An understanding of copyright.
  • An understanding of the different authors’ contracts that exist.
  • An opportunity to ask relevant question about contract details.

John Sailing

John the senior orgnaniser of WGGB and is responsible for leading the casework team, advising members on contractual and copyright issues. John also plays a key role in WGGB and joint union campaigns, leads on the equality, diversity and inclusion work of the union and organises members across the country.

Manon Eames

Manon Eames is an experienced writer, actress and presenter based in South Wales. She is a full member of Equity and The Writers' Guild of Great Britain, of which she was Chair of the Wales Committee for many years (now Co-Chair). Manon is fully committed to improving pay, working conditions, opportunities and training for emerging, aspiring and experienced professional writers in Wales, both Welsh and English. Manon is also a valuable member of CULT Cymru Steering Group.
