Pembrokeshire County Council seeks creative community engagement specialists to work closely with stakeholders and community groups in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire to explore the significance of Castle Square in advance of its redevelopment 2024-25.

Castle Square is historically significant, being the last one remaining of four squares that once defined the town centre. The project will breathe new life into the square while retaining its important function as a site for local events and activities.

The square is the gateway to the main pedestrian access to Haverfordwest Castle and the project will also generate visual and access improvements to Castle Back and other pedestrian routes to the castle from Castle Lake carpark.

The engagement specialists will be expected to develop a series of creative and fun sessions where participants have the opportunity to share their knowledge, experience and views about the square and in this way contribute towards a new vision for this key site.

In addition to creative sessions, the engagement specialists will be expected to gather observational and statistical data about how and when people visit the square to build a detailed profile of the place.

A design team will be appointed early in 2024 and the engagement team are expected to work closely with them to ensure they have accurate data and qualitative input to develop a design that resonates with the community.

Engagement sessions will take place from January to April 2024. Public dissemination of outputs, designed and delivered by engagement specialists, will need to be delivered May-June. A final detailed illustrated report is required by June 2024.

Quotes are invited between £20,000 and £25,000. Quotes over £25,000 will be rejected. Deadline for Quotes Wed 20th Dec 2023.
