About the Role

Swansea Council is looking for an experienced and highly organised Arts & Culture Events Producer to lead the delivery of Swansea Arts Weekend — a citywide celebration of culture in October or November this year (final date TBC), following the inaugural Swansea Arts Weekend in 2024.

Taking place across venues and public spaces, Swansea Arts Weekend will showcase the city’s rich creative talent through live performance, exhibitions, workshops, and more.

We are seeking a producer with a track record of delivering ambitious and inclusive cultural events. You’ll be confident managing partnerships, coordinating teams, overseeing logistics, lead on scheduling, and ensuring high-quality delivery from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development, planning and delivery of Swansea Arts Weekend, working closely with senior council managers, council officers, partners, venues, and the wider cultural sector.

Manage production schedules, budgets, contracts, and event logistics.

Work closely with the events marketing team.

Commission and coordinate talent, venues and creative teams.

Oversee any event infrastructure, accessibility, licensing, and health & safety requirements that are not within any commissioning strands.

Monitor progress against Council and Shared Prosperity Fund objectives and KPIs.

Ensure that inclusion, sustainability, and creativity are at the heart of the weekend’s delivery.

Lead on event delivery during the weekend and provide post-event evaluation input.

We’re Looking for Someone Who Has:

  • Considerable experience producing high-quality arts or cultural events, ideally with public-facing elements and multiple partners.
  • Strong public events scheduling skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, including budget management.
  • Confidence working across multiple art forms and formats, from live performance to visual arts.
  • Experience working with local authorities, creative organisations, and community groups.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with people.
  • Calm problem-solving skills, particularly in live environments.
