Tin Shed Theatre CIC is currently recruiting new trustees to join our board.
Tin Shed Theatre CIC is a civic arts organisation based in Newport, South Wales. We champion co-creative methods in socially engaged arts practice, working with both professionals and local residents. Our work specialises in outdoor and site-specific theatrically inspired works, while also reimagining unconventional spaces as long-term cultural hubs.
We run a variety of engagement programmes designed to break down barriers to creative expression. In Newport, we’ve developed The Place - a third space for societal regeneration, civic exchange, and social cohesion. Born from the city itself and shaped through collaboration with local people (many of whom now make up our core team), we use arts and creativity to impact social change, highlight injustice, and offer inclusive creative opportunities beyond traditional institutions.
Trustee Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Ensuring the organisation continues to meet its social purpose
- Offering strategic guidance and oversight
- Supporting governance, particularly in areas like finance, legal, and HR
Trustees meet every quarter with some interim meetings and yearly Annual General Meeting (usually via zoom) to plan, review, and support the organisation’s work.
This is a voluntary role, with an expected time commitment of approximately 15–20 hours per year.
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in:
- Diversity, Equality & Inclusion
- Legal & Human Resources
- Finance
- Arts Management
We strongly encourage applications from individuals from the Global Majority and those with lived experience relevant to our values and mission. If you have a background in the arts or charity management, and a desire to help shape a more inclusive, creative future then we’d love to hear from you.
