We are seeking dynamic and dedicated facilitators to provide weekly theatre sessions to young people in Monmouthshire as part of the Creative Futures Project.

Creative Futures

The Creative Futures Project gives voice through the performing arts, supporting young people in Monmouthshire to make, learn and enjoy theatre, and to experience the incredible benefits that it brings.

Committed to empowering young people, the project involves numerous arts and youth organisations, developing a network of spaces and opportunities that give emphasis to the exploration and enjoyment of creative practice.

The project aims to inspire conversation amongst young people and to develop a genuinely engaging programme grounded in the exploration of issues that emerge as the most current and important to them.

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Responsibilities

You will be working with another facilitator to deliver a high-quality workshop programme engaging participants, exploring their shared and individual stories and working with them to devise a range of pieces including a final public theatre experience.

You will oversee dynamic sessions which inspire and empower young people, allowing them to explore their potential, building trust with participants and creating a safe environment where they feel supported and able to enjoy creativity.

You will need to be available to deliver session on one weekday evening or Saturday daytime per week.  You will also be required to take part in the delivery and evaluation of session feedback.

All applicants must be registered self-employed and have their own Public Liability Insurance.

Experience

  • Experience working with other freelance creatives on participatory arts projects.
  • Experience of working with young people aged 11 – 19.
  • Experience of devising performance projects within a youth led environment.
  • Demonstrate inclusive and imaginative creative practice.
  • Welsh speaking desirable

Personal Skills

  • Have a commitment to excellence and innovation in creative practice.
  • Have a belief in the transformative power of creative practice for young people.
  • An ability to listen, communicate, and empathise with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • An understanding of, or an openness to learn about, inclusive practice and the barriers young people may face in accessing the arts.
  • Be able to create a welcoming, safe and positive environment where young people feel safe.
  • You will be committed to the highest levels of accessibility and inclusion in your working practices.

 

Locations

Sessions will be based in both Abergavenny and Caldicot.  The artist will need to be able to travel and work face to face in one or both locations.

Timescales

The sessions will run weekly in term time from January (approx week beginning 15th January) until Easter with the view to continue up to and including July 2024.

Fee



£130.00 - 150.00 per session
