WISP Dance Club are seeking six creative individuals to become part of their new Phoenix training program. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The aim of the training program is to support six individuals to become future WISP Dance Club leaders who will be able to deliver a new and exciting WISP Dance Club program across Wrexham and further afield.

WISP Dance Club are an inclusive dance community organisation providing artistically led, creative dance activity for children & adults living with additional needs. Our sessions combine developmental movement with creative dance as a mechanism to foster & develop important life skills like confidence, communication skills, understanding of self & others, team working, decision making & creative expression. WISP have 30 years of experience, delivering inclusive, creative dance activity. We are seeking six individuals to join our growing team and become future part time employees of the organisation.

Training details:

The training program is over 25 weeks in between April and October 2024.

The training program follows a vocational style that includes shadowing current leaders, small group or one-to-one sessions, teaching observation and self learning.

You commit to 5 hours of your time each week. Timings of sessions tbc, but applicants must have flexible availability during the day and evening.

Skills to be gained through the training:

Structuring sessions, facilitating creativity, embedding skill development in activity, creative team working / teaching / leading, facilitating & structuring choreography, understanding & being able to deliver statistical reporting, understanding & being able to deliver person focused / group focused reporting, facilitating growth & development, observing & reporting progress, understanding health & safety, applying health and safety in risk assessments, applying health & safety during sessions to keep participants safe, understanding key maths / accounting concepts with running sessions like breaking even.

Applicants must:

Have three years of experience / dance training in any genre.

Have some experience working creatively with dance.

Have an empathetic nature.

Be open to new experiences and new ways of working.

Be open to team teaching.

Be over 18 years of age.

Pay:

Successful applicants will be paid £3000 in instalments to take part in the training program with a commitment to work for the organisation after training.

WISP will run and pay for DBS checks for successful applicants.
