Non Place Collective are thrilled to have selected exciting and innovative artists for a two week residency culminating in an exhibition and a series of events and festivities during our Refugee Week Cardiff Umbrella take over.

19 - 25th of June at Cardiff Umbrella!

Studio Residency: Vitaliia Fedorova is a Ukrainian visual artist based in Cardiff, Wales. Her artistic practice focuses on introspection and stretches on the poetic-social axis. Her main interest is to explore the possibilities of art as a political force that not only reflects social processes, but can significantly influence and shape them. Based on the theory that the personal is always political, she uses the mediums of installation, video and performance.

Virtual Residency: Mousa AlNana is a Syrian artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. He works predominantly with collage techniques and monochromatic style, using a composition of figures and space, taking from his personal experiences to talk about issues and emotions to which we all can relate. AlNana has won awards and participated in different projects between Syria, Egypt, Greece and Scotland.

Our partners at Sub Saharan Advisory Panel, Amgueddfa Cymru, g39, Welsh Refugee Council, Women Life Freedom and Cardiff Umbrella are going to join us in organising a week-full of special programs compiling of workshops and events that are celebrating the resilience and unity of the local refugee communities.

Non Place Collective, established in 2019, is a group of artists/curators who aim to support artists that respond to places of transience, whilst retaining the authorship of a collective. Collaboration gives an opportunity to engage with others and encourages inclusivity whilst celebrating uniqueness.
