Can we demonstrate the Creative Habits of Mind, and their value in developing literacy and numeracy in year 3 and 4 children at Pentip Church in Wales Primary school - whilst co-producing and designing an outdoor area focused on the school’s themes of Self-Reflection, Growth and Sustainability?
Pentip Church in Wales Primary in Llanelli is a small school in the process of redefining itself and building pupil numbers. It is a school within a multilingual and multi-faith community that they are keen to embrace. The school wishes to develop a calming and introspective outdoor area, which is accessible to children of all faiths. You will be working with one class of 27 children across years 3 and 4. The outcomes should be co-developed with the pupils and staff. The project is a summer term project and suggests an approach that can contribute to the school environment, community, culture and learning, through gardening, sculpture, architectural, design or sensory based practises. Although we are open to any approach that aligns with the project aims.
Sharing the process and/or outcome outcomes with the community around the school and including an offsite visit as part of the project would be welcomed. The project will also involve working with teachers to emphasise relevant aspects of literacy and numeracy and aligned with the two key principles of a lead Creative Schools project – High Functioning Classroom and the Five Habits.
Prior experience of the Lead Creative Schools project is necessary.
Remuneration
The budget is £5000. We anticipate total Creative Practitioner fees would be approximately £3600 and the materials, training, travel and other budget would be approximately £1400. The opportunity is open to individuals, collectives or those who may like to work in collaboration with another creative, (this includes the possibility of mentoring a less experienced artist).
Duration
It is anticipated that the fee would cover 10 full-day-sessions across the summer term, starting in the first week of the term. The fee also covers delivery, prep time and the creation of an evaluation narrative.
