Freelance for Creative people
For Who?
Creative people who are about to start or are already working as a freelancer and want to improve their business skills. No previous knowledge of self-employment or financial skills is required.
What is the focus?
Freelancing can be a challenge. We go through ways to organise yourself, how to tackle the big changes coming up in taxation, and plenty of short cuts so you can hit the ground running.
By the end of the session you should be able to:
- Recognise why self-employment is different from employment
- Confidently describe who and what you offer
- Identify the differences between a sole trader and a limited company
- Comply with legal requirements for tax and national insurance
- Efficient record keeping and preparation for HMRC's Tax Digitalisation Programme
- Get paid promptly and plan how not to overspend
