Contract: Freelance, part-time initially 2 hrs per week
Project Duration: 12 months. Max 2 workshops per month, with some performances around our festival weekend.
Stand Up for Wellbeing is an exciting new 18-month creative well-being project supporting adults. The project aims to help boost poor mental health, low confidence, and social isolation. We’re seeking an experienced, organised, and passionate Freelance Event Coordinator to join us and help bring this inspiring programme to life.
About the Project:
Stand Up for Wellbeing offers bi-monthly evening workshops in comedy and performance, led by professional facilitators, across Powys. Each six-month cohort will support up to 20 adults per workshop, focusing on writing, confidence-building, storytelling, and self-expression in a safe, inclusive environment. Participants will explore humour as a tool for connection, self-esteem, and improved mental health.
We will also run a relaxed sharing event for participants who wish to perform, either independently or within a wider festival.
Your Role:
You’ll be central to the smooth running of this project. Working closely with facilitators, guest comedians, volunteers, participants and BM management, you’ll coordinate the logistics, liaise with venues, oversee scheduling, support participants, and ensure that events run safely and successfully.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating all workshop and event logistics across Powys, primarily based in Crickhowell
- Liaising with and booking venues, facilitators, tutors, guest artists, partners and festival staff
- Managing participant communications and registration
- Supporting outreach, promotion, and engagement activity
- Coordinating evaluation processes (feedback forms, surveys, facilitator reflections)
- Ensuring events are welcoming, inclusive, and well-organised
- Managing schedules, resources, and day-to-day delivery admin
- Reporting to management throughout the project
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Strong experience in event coordination or project management, ideally in arts, community, or mental health settings
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A warm, inclusive approach that fosters a welcoming atmosphere
- Confidence managing multiple priorities and working independently
- A genuine passion for creativity, community engagement, and mental health support
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings as required for workshop delivery
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to support events during evenings and weekend
Desirable but not essential:
- Knowledge of safeguarding adults
- Experience working with volunteers
- Understanding of mental health/ well being support principles
- Ability to speak Welsh desirable but not essential.
- Graphic Design or ability to use Canva, Photoshop, desirable but not essential.
