Theatr Cymru is thrilled to share that Byth Bythoedd Amen has reached Intermediate level on the Theatre Green Book. This is the first time Theatr Cymru has achieved Intermediate level, which means that 60% of all materials on stage are reused or recycled and at least 70% of everything must also be stored or reused following production.

Congratulations to the Byth Bythoedd Amen creative and production team for achieving this milestone, alongside the company staff.

The Theatre Green Book is a framework to plan and measure sustainability in the theatre sector. It gives advice on the best practice to follow in every element of a project / production in order to reach net zero, and there are three levels to accomplish: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Recently, a second edition of the Green Book was released, building on the original version published in 2021.

As a national cultural company, sustainability is one of our main priorities and we strive to find more sustainable ways to carry out our work, to reduce our carbon footprint, and to facilitate conversations and ideas that deal with the climate crisis and the impact it has on life in Wales and beyond, today. We will continue to work towards our sustainability objectives on our next productions.
