I am looking for two dancers to join me for a two-week R&D (Research & Development) process in Autumn 2024, as part of my Arts Council of Wales funded project “Accumulate”. I am particularly interested in improvisation, and I am especially open to developing ideas in solos and pairs. I am keen to meet dancers based in or from North Wales, and I would like to invite you to attend a dance audition workshop, which will be open to both trained and non-trained dancers, and all abilities are welcome.

  • experience in a variety of dance styles
  • a background from sports, both team and individual (all sports backgrounds welcome)
  • a base in North Wales and is local enough to commute daily to and from Bangor

This is a paid opportunity:

  • Fee will be £550 per week x 2 weeks in total
  • In addition, £50 per week x 2 in per diems
  • Local travel by public transport will be reimbursed within a 40-mile radius

R&D Dates:

  • WEEK 1: 4th – 8th November 2024 (Pontio, Bangor)
  • WEEK 2: 11th – 15th November 2024 (Fran Wen, Y Selar, Bangor)

Applicants must be available on all the above dates

Audition Workshop date, time and location:

Date: 8th October 2024

Time: 1:00 – 4:00pm

If you are interested in joining me, please send your CV, showreel or a video of your dance improvisation(s) via e-mail to: louis-george@hotmail.co.uk by September 28th at the latest.

Please let me know of any access needs in advance. Any other questions or for a general chat about my project, please get in touch, I would love to hear from you.

Themes and Ideas:

Some of the ideas I will be exploring are isolation versus being connected to others through movement. Mental Health and Neurodiversity are key topics in this project. I wish to investigate these themes as they are relevant to me, but they are also very current topics affecting many people today. Some of these ideas may be familiar to you, but most of the ideas will be tried for the first time in this audition workshop. From this exploration we will be developing a movement language together, and we will be exploring these themes through conversations, movement tasks, sharings, and bringing in mentors to view the process to both challenge and support us. I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Louis Ellis.
