We want to support and invest in training or professional development to enhance your creative practice, developing skills that will help you to build a sustainable career in Wales. We’ll want to understand how this might impact your work in the future, for example by enabling you to make higher quality work or take your practice in a new direction. 

If your application is solely for training/professional development, or a part of your application is, you should explain the quality and appropriateness of those providing the skills and expertise. Consider the relevance of training to your practice or organisation’s work as well as how the skills being developed will benefit the wider sector in Wales. 

 

We’re keen to support: 

  • Learning and mentoring opportunities that lead to the development of skills and capability because of the sharing of knowledge and expertise.  

  • Training that develops creative, technical, and business skills such as management/leadership.   

  • Training to build the capability and expertise of individuals – whether freelancers or the staff of organisations 

  • Training to develop new ways of reaching and engaging with audiences.  

  • Developing the ideas and ambitions of underrepresented groups such as D/deaf and disabled people, Ethnically and Culturally diverse people, Welsh speakers, young people to identify routes to pursue careers in the cultural sector.  

  • Training that increases knowledge and understanding of diversity, equality and inclusion.  

  • Training that develops and improves business and management skills (including business planning, fundraising and marketing).  

  • Nurturing Wales based artists through platforms, training, masterclasses. 

  • Opportunities for the development of creative and technical skills, through training and other forms of professional development. 

  • Exceptional learning opportunities, such as training or mentoring, delivered by an international organisation or practitioner which will build new knowledge, skills and capacity in Wales. 

  • Organisations to deliver training that will benefit the arts sector in Wales.  

 

We will not support: 

  • Full or part time study, individual tuition, lessons or vocational training. 

  • Projects that fail to demonstrate a tangible outcome from our investment.  

  • Applications that don’t demonstrate the benefit of the training to the individual, organisation or wider sector. 

  • Delivering a training project where there is no clear evidence of demand or need.  

 

How much can I apply for? 

A maximum of £10,000 if your application is focussed solely on receiving training or business development. 

Up to £50,000 if you are an organisation applying to deliver training.
