Emerging Wales-based theatre company StammerMouth have won a coveted Fringe First award for their show CHOO CHOO! (Or... Have You Ever Thought About ****** **** *****? (Cos I Have)). CHOO CHOO! is part of the Pleasance’s Edinburgh National Partnership programme and is presented with Sherman Theatre.
The Scotsman’s Fringe First awards recognise exceptional new writing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. CHOO CHOO! written by Nye Russell- Thompson, Duncan Hallis, Nerida Bradley and Tafsila Khan, and directed by Nerida Bradley is a playful and moving exploration of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The Scotsman’s Sally Stott described the play as ‘an original and audacious exploration of mental health and theatrical form’.
StammerMouth are this year’s Wales recipients of the Edinburgh National Partnership programme which for the second year has seen the Pleasance work with Sherman Theatre to identify and support an exciting emerging company to perform at the Fringe.
CHOO CHOO! has also been nominated for a Neurodiverse Review Award in the BOP Exceptional Theatre category.
This year’s success follows last year’s Sherman & Pleasance Edinburgh National Partnership recipient difficultstage’s win of a David Johnson Emerging Talent Award for An Audience with Milly-Liu.
CHOO CHOO! continues at Pleasance Dome until 28 August each day at 1.15pm.
