Volcano will shortly be looking to commission five solo performers to make individual short performances (around 30 minutes) at our Swansea High Street venue. This is the fourth year of this freelance commission series, which began in 2022 as Solo Duets for the Future. The idea behind this initiative is to encourage performers to develop new performance modes in front of small, enthusiastic audiences.
We’ll be releasing the brief at the end of January and asking for submissions throughout February, with a deadline in early March. Performances will take place in April and May. These are fortnight-long commissions.
There will be reserved commissions for Black, Asian or Dual Heritage artists, artists creating work in Welsh, and d/Deaf or disabled artists.
