WNO shares the power of live opera and classical music with audiences and communities across Wales and England. We are a creative and inspiring place to work and recognise that our colleagues play a vital role in advancing our strategic priorities to deliver on our ambitions.
WNO produces three full scale repertory seasons in Cardiff and tours around the UK for approximately 15 weeks each year. Senior Technicians (Lighting) usually support the Head of Lighting, Sound and Video or Lighting Manager to deliver the lighting elements of main scale productions. This usually involves programming shows on an ETC EOS family Console during production and rehearsal periods, then reprograming and operating shows as required in Cardiff and on tour. Shows may be brand new productions for WNO, co-productions previously done elsewhere, and revivals from the WNO repertoire, which sometimes includes the translation of old shows lit with generics to newer technology. You will also play a hands-on role in all departmental activities including Get Ins, rigging, focusing, sound & video set up and Get Outs.
Outside of production work Senior Technicians (Lighting) will usually work alongside other members of the department in the maintenance and upkeep of WNO Electrics Department equipment, as well preparatory work for upcoming seasons, including the creation of practical lighting elements for forthcoming productions.
Senior Technicians (Lighting) will also support a range of youth, community and development events.
