POWER UP is a brand-new, ambitious, long-term initiative which will support Black music creators and industry professionals and executives with grants and industry wide support as well addressing anti-Black racism and racial disparities in the music sector. POWER UP!, Arts Council of Wales and Creative Wales are partnering together to ensure a fairer, more equitable music industry for Black music creators and industry professionals based in Wales as well to assist in accelerating positive change within the nation. This ongoing partnership work will be focused on meeting the needs and increasing the opportunities available for Black creators and industry professionals based in Wales.
To kick this off, we will hosting two focus groups that aim to:
- Map current work and projects related to music taking place within Wales
- To discuss the main needs of Black music creators and industry professionals based in Wales
- To advise on what support will be most transformative for Black creators and industry professionals based in Wales
