Theatr Genedlaethol is keen to continue to support freelance artists and theatre workers to increase their confidence in using Welsh at work so they can more fully engage with Welsh language theatre. By working with the National Centre for Learning Welsh and Nant Gwrtheyrn Language and Heritage Centre - with the support of Arts Council of Wales - we can offer more opportunities for performing arts freelancers to increase their confidence in using the language professionally.

This time, up to 15 places will be available for freelancers in the performing arts sector on the National Centre for Learning Welsh's online course Working Welsh, which will be provided by Nant Gwrtheyrn at Intermediate level in the week of 14-18 March 2022.

This course is fully funded and you will be expected to attend 5 days of online training between 10am and 4pm in the week of 14-18 March 2022. £750 will be paid as a financial contribution for your time attending the course.

To express your interest, fill in the application form (along with the equality monitoring form) and send to Nia Skyrme, our Producer: nia.skyrme@theatr.com by 14 February 2022. We will co-ordinate expressions of interest from the performing arts sector.

We want to ensure accessible sessions in the future. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

If you have any questions about the course, or about Intermediate level, contact Mared Grug, Nant Gwrtheyrn's Working Welsh Project Officer: mared@nantgwrtheyrn.org

Notes:

Working Welsh aims to strengthen Welsh language skills in the workplace by offering options for learning, improving, and using Welsh language skills for work purposes. This free scheme is funded by the Welsh Government and has been developed by the National Centre for Learning Welsh. Anyone is welcome to express an interest in attending Working Welsh courses at other levels but they will not receive a contribution.

A successful pilot of this scheme was undertaken in 2021, with 22 Welsh learners from the performing arts sector attending courses of varying levels. The aim of this course is to build on that pilot and develop a specific course for learners from the performing arts sector.
