From 8 September 2025, organisations will be able to apply for grants of £500–£1,500 to run one-off arts projects that inspire people to get involved in creative activity. The Creative Communities fund is specifically designed for groups embedded in their communities, particularly in areas with limited arts provision or those underrepresented in Arts Council of Wales funding.

The programme is designed to support small-scale projects that reflect Wales’s diversity of culture, language and society, with a focus on the process of creating together rather than the final product. Examples could include creative workshops, community murals, music-making, dance sessions, photography projects or bilingual theatre – and should all be led by an experienced artistic collaborator.

We know that taking part in creative activity can be life-changing – it can boost confidence, bring communities together, and give people a stronger sense of place and belonging. Through the Creative Communities fund, we want to help groups in every part of Wales make the arts part of everyday life, especially where opportunities have been limited in the past.

Catryn Ramasut, Director of Arts, Arts Council of Wales

Priority will be given to not-for-profit volunteer and community groups in Wales who have not previously received Arts Council of Wales funding.
