NYTHU (Nesting) is a Welsh-language performance with disco-dancing, inspired by Elin Phillips' experience as a new mother and primary carer. How can you think of the future, when sleeplessness robs you of your power to speak/think and turns you into some strange creature silently prowling the landing?
SANC by Akeim Toussaint Buck and Yamina Lyara uses movement and the voice to express humanity's needs in dire times of onslaught on our embodied freedom. It is about rewilding the cosmopolitan human, immersing ourselves in nature to heal and reset. Akeim and Yamina will also be offering a workshop for artists working with nature and the body, on Tues 11 June.
Thank you to the four artists who have created new work for the season so far - Catherine Alexander, Eric Ngalle Charles, Christopher Elson and Luke Hereford, and to Marianne Tuckman and the BTEC students at Rubicon Dance for kindly sharing their new piece with us as a prologue to the programme. Volcano is delighted to be able to present such varied and adventurous work by emerging and established artists from Wales and beyond within the space of a few weeks.
