The final performance in The Shape of Things to Come (Volcano's annual season of short original performances by freelance theatre-makers) is Juiced to Death by Joanna Simpkins, 12 - 14 June.

Juiced to Death is about what it means to age, as a woman in 2025. The audience joins the slightly unhinged 40th birthday party of a woman dutifully fighting the clock. Surrounded by magazines, blending spirulina smoothies, and besieged by advertising algorithms, she begins to kick back against The Programme...

Joanna is an actor from a working-class background in Hull, Yorkshire, who trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Her work encompasses contemporary plays, classic drama and physical theatre. She has worked with many well-known companies but can't wait to perform a piece in her own voice and from her own lived experience.

Each of the five shows in the current series is performed in The Room, a set designed by Swansea artist Bourdon Brindille.

The Shape of Things to Come 2025 has included new work by Arnold Matsena, Ryan Samuel Davies, Moana Doll and leon clowes.
