Congratulations to Jenny Hall of Craftedspace, whose designs for Walk the Plank’s production Midsummer Mystery has won 1st prize in the Professional Space and Object category at the World Stage Design Awards 2025 held for the first time in Sharjah in the UAE.

Held every four years, the awards celebrate the very best in international performance design. This was the first time in its history that the event was held in the Middle East. Previously it has been held in Toronto, Seoul, Cardiff, Taipei and Calgary.

Midsummer Mystery was created for Bodø2024 European Capital of Culture and included a spectacular telescopic wooden tower that dramatically burnt to the ground in a blaze of pyrotechnics: a striking finale that captured the imagination of audiences.

Reflecting on the achievement, Jenny said, “This recognition is a testament to the hard work, creativity and passion of everyone involved in this unique production, as well as to the beauty of the City of Bodø.”

Walk the Plank director Liz Pugh said, “We’re thrilled to see Jenny’s exceptional talent celebrated on a global stage and proud that Midsummer Mystery continues to shine as a showcase of bold, collaborative creativity.”

Attending and exhibiting in Sharjah was made possible by the International Opportunities Fund, Wales Arts International and the Arts Council of Wales.
