Across the programme, six independent artists have created intriguing and imaginative new work in various corners of Volcano’s old supermarket building in Swansea High Street. Each artist creates and performs a brand new show within a fortnight.
The final two shows will be performed back-to-back this week, beginning with Elin Phillips’ NYTHU, a Welsh-language piece with disco dancing, inspired by Elin’s experience as a new mum and primary carer. Elin uses some of the building’s liminal spaces to create an audience journey with a disorientating Kubrick vibe.
This will be followed by Akeim Toussaint Buck’s soundscape/dance piece SANC, which, in contrast, uses layers of sound derived from nature and a dialogue between two dancers and a few simple natural objects to build a rhythmic sanctuary on stage.
Both shows will be performed Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 June. Tickets from £5.
