In 2023, we set out our 10-year strategy and 3-year business plan, in which it sets out its plan to rebuild strong organisational foundations, to collaborate and create with others, and to create even more opportunities for its participants, people and partners. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join our executive team, drive operational excellence, and enable to organisation to achieve its six goals for the first three years:
- To implement a fit for the future structure and sound internal functioning of the organisation
- To develop and embed an Organisational theory of change and data informed decision-making framework
- To strengthen our reputation with our partners and develop our network, leading to sustainable resource generation relationships
- To increase pathways between communities, our offers, and partners' offers
- To increase connectedness and knowledge transfer within the dance sector and beyond
- To strengthen our education offering from key stage 1 to level 3, improving the reputation of dance as a relevant skill within the Welsh Curriculum
Rubicon has been faced with its challenges but through the hard work of the staff, board and from the support the organisation has received from funders, partners, and the community, Rubicon is now embarking on its next exciting phase and period of transition. This is a critical role that will drive this next step and is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking for a challenge, to grow the organisation and utilise their own strategic leadership skillset.
Overall, this is a key role within the organisation that will sit alongside the board and existing Leadership Team. Forming a collaborative approach to working with both the Board and Leadership Team is crucial for this position.
Position Overview:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the day-to-day business operations of Rubicon Dance. The CEO will work closely with the Board and members of the Leadership Team, who will drive the artistic and social work of the organisation. Together, they will develop and execute the strategy in a way that will enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance across the organisation. The CEO will report directly into the Board and will have direct line management responsibility for the Leadership Team.
The CEO will play a critical role in driving sustainable growth while maintaining a strong focus on delivering exceptional services to our participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and business leadership to the various teams, including but not limited to; the leadership team, finance, dance leaders, marketing and front of house. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement that safeguards the room and growth for the collective artistic vision.
Strategy Execution: Collaborate with the Board and Leadership Team to translate company goals into actionable operational strategies. Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and day-to-day activities.
Artistic / Creative vision: To lead and create opportunities surrounding creative vision whilst providing artistic direction. To have the ability to lead a community arts organisation in an inclusive and inspirational way, bringing out the best of existing talent within Rubicon.
Resource Allocation: Optimise resource allocation to achieve operational efficiency while managing costs effectively. Identify areas for cost savings and operational improvements.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and increase overall quality. Champion best practices and innovative solutions.
Performance Metrics: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance. Provide regular reports to the Leadership Team, identifying trends and making data-driven recommendations.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration between the different teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of goals.
Risk Management: Identify potential operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operational team. Foster a culture of growth, learning, and employee engagement.
Business Development: Build strong networks within the sector, identifying possible collaborations and partnerships where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or other relevant qualification is a plus.
- X3 years of leadership experience in the arts or cultural industry/sector, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering results.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute complex operational strategies.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in process optimisation, performance measurement, and change management.
- Strong business acumen and financial literacy.
