Please join us for a conversation between Abergavenny-based artist Lauren Heckler and curator Mariana Lemos.

Lauren Heckler is an interdisciplinary artist from Cymru (Wales) working across performance, drawing, digital media and sculptural intervention. Her practice is shaped by social relations, field research, and a process that dreams by chains of association. She is currently developing work that reflects through the carnage and conundrums of living in a chronically ill body, and what it means to feel at home in the habits of time, place, nature, body, friendship, technology etc.

Lauren has collaborated on public artworks, co-curated online and in-person residencies and socially engaged programmes, and been a participant in various projects centring cross-cultural dialogue, recently the British Council funded ‘Llif / Flow’ facilitated by Mission Gallery.

Mariana Lemos is an independent curator based in London. Her curatorial practice is focused on performance, affect and embodied experience within the realms of fiction, feminist/queer posthumanism, and illness and disability. She received her MFA in Curating from the Goldsmiths University of London (2020), as well as her BA in Fine Arts (2015). Lemos has published texts with Flash Art, Concreta, Emergent Magazine, and is a Co-Editor at Mercurius Magazine, a board member of SALOON London and an organising member of the Feminist Duration Reading Group. Her previous work experience includes positions at Angela de La Cruz Studio, Union Pacific, Black Tower, the Feminist Library, and Lisson Gallery. https://www.marianalemos.co.uk/
