What is Breaking the Box?
We were awarded funding from the Arts Council Wales innovative Connect & Flourish fund to develop a network of inclusive, accessible venues in Wales that are confident and supported in welcoming diverse artists, backstage crew and administrators, as well as audiences.
Taking Flight Theatre Company worked with Theatrau Sir Gar, Pontio, RCT Theatres, hynt and freelance partners on Breaking the Box, a project that offered training and support for an emerging Deaf and disabled theatre workforce and encouraged inbuilding future roles for Deaf and disabled creatives to Wales' venues.
Identifying a benchmark for Wales in terms of where we're at with inclusive practice & access, this project aimed to reimagine the creative workforce.
