She had been a member and Chair of the Arts Council of Wales between 1999 and 2003 as well as having a distinguished career as Director of the Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea since 1990.
Commenting today, Phil George, Chair of Arts Council of Wales said:
“Sadly the new year has begun with the news that Sybil has died after a long battle with illness.
“She was a remarkable woman - spirited, feisty, vibrant. She did striking work as Director of the Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea and had a distinguished cultural and political career, including as Chair of the Arts Council.
“We shall miss her greatly.”
Sybil's funeral will take place at St Mary's Church, Swansea, SA1 3LP at 1pm Thursday 30 January.
