The Arts Council of Wales, an organisation granted a Royal Charter by Her Majesty in 1994, has extended its condolences to the Royal Family following the announcement earlier this evening of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Speaking on hearing the sad news, Phil George, Chair, and Michael Elliott, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, said:

“The Council members and staff of the Arts Council of Wales are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of HM The Queen.

“We send our condolences to HM King Charles III, his family and all who have been close to Her Majesty throughout her extraordinary life of service.

“Her Majesty has provided hope, inspiration and guidance to the people, communities, and nations of the United Kingdom throughout her 70-year reign.

“The Arts Council of Wales was honoured and privileged to be granted a Royal Charter by Her Majesty in 1994 and celebrate her patronage of arts and culture across Wales and the UK.”
