Welsh Festivals Forum: 25 March, Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham 10.30am - 4pm

Join Welsh festival colleagues for a day of insight, inspiration and networking:

  • 10.30am: Registration and coffee: please give your input to the festival surgery session!
  • 10.45am: Croeso/Welcome – Fiona Goh, BAFA
  • 11am – 11.30am: Festivals Forward – Rhiannon Davies from BOP Consulting outlines the results of the BAFA commissioned national research on our sector, providing key data on scope, scale and activities of arts festivals, kickstarting conversations about current challenges, solutions and opportunities
  • 11.30am – 12.30pm: Place and partnerships – how do festivals respond to the challenges and opportunities of their location, and what are the best ways to build strong local partnerships? Chaired by Alice Briggs, this panel discussion includes Krishnapriya Ramamoorthy of Paallam Arts, Betsan Moses of Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru, Llio Maddocks of Urdd Gobaith Cymru and Alison Giles of Presteigne Festival
  • 12.30pm – 1.30pm: Lunch (not included but Tŷ Pawb has a range of food options onsite)
  • 1.30pm – 2.30pm: Cymraeg/Welsh language and festivals – Fiona Goh of BAFA and Julia Cusworth present BAFA’s research on Welsh language and festivals, followed by an interactive session led by Einir Sion of Arts Council of Wales and Iwan Williams (member of Welsh Arts Consortium/Consortiwm Celf Cymraeg) on the best ways to develop the use of Welsh language within your festival
  • 2.30pm – 2.40pm: Break
  • 2.40pm – 3.30pm: Audience insight and inclusivity – Nancy Sheterline outlines the support and resources Audience Agency offer to festivals, and Rosanna Cant asks what it means for festivals’ audience development strategies to centre on inclusion
  • 3.30pm – 4pm: Festival surgery – Fiona Goh of BAFA, Einir Sion and Suzanne Griffiths-Rees of Arts Council of Wales end the day with a chance for attendees to discuss any additional topics requested by attendees, and to respond to the day’s findings.

Tickets are £15 for non-BAFA members and free for BAFA Members. Tea and coffee will be provided but lunch is not included. Please join us!
