Aberystwyth Arts Centre is looking for a Technician to join its busy technical team.

Award winning Aberystwyth Arts Centre is a regionally important venue, comprising of a theatre, concert hall, performance studio, cinema and numerous exhibition and creative learning spaces. It offers over 300 performances annually across all art forms, alongside a programme of cinema, exhibitions, festivals and special events.

The Technician will work under the direction of the Chief Technician to ensure that public events and performances at the Arts Centre are effectively and efficiently delivered. They will have responsibility to manage and oversee all technical requirements at the Arts Centre, delivering all events to the high standard required.

The Technician will be an experienced industry professional with a track record in production and technical expertise within an arts environment.

In your role you will work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure that all artistic and commercial events hosted in the Arts Centre receive consistent high-standard technical support.  The Technician will be required to supervise and motivate the Assistant Technician, Casual and freelance staff and Technical Apprentices, this will include demonstration and guidance when required.  

Ideally, you will have worked in a multi-disciplinary arts venue or relevant technical environment in a supervisory role. You will be an expert in one or more of the following disciplines: lighting, sound or stage craft and will have a good understanding of all aspects of technical delivery for an event.  You will have excellent communication skills and a good track record of building strong relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues from other departments as well as external organisations.
