Head4Arts together with the Blaenau Gwent Sustainable Food Co-ordinator were delighted to launch the Taste of Nature booklet at St.Illtyd’s Primary school on Friday 15th November.
The booklet was produced following the delivery of the Taste of Nature project which combined creative arts, nature activities and healthy eating. Taste of Nature was supported by Arts, Health and Wellbeing National Lottery Funding through Arts Council Wales.
The booklet includes highlights from the Taste of Nature project alongside low-cost, healthy recipes and ideas of activities that families can do together to get creative, get outdoors and connect with nature.
Pupils who took part in the launch had an opportunity to try out some of these activities including learning about buzzy bees through creative moment, finding out how food grows during planting sessions and writing fun food rhymes about their favourite fruits and vegetables.
Chris Nottingham, Sustainable Food Co-ordinator for Blaenau Gwent explained that: “The Taste of Nature project has offered a creative approach to healthy eating, helping to offer alternatives to ultra processed food and addressing a significant health challenge within our community. It has been fantastic to see how families have responded to the sessions delivered over the past few months – we hope that the booklet will enable more families to replicate some of these ideas together at home”
The booklet can be viewed on the Blaenau Gwent Food Partnership website Taste of Nature - BG Food
