EA Productions, in partnership with Pontio and Fran Wen based in Bangor, North Wales, are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a set designer/builder to join the second research and development phase of our Arts Council Wales funded project, "The School of Planet Powers for Extraordinary Children." This immersive show aims to engage young audiences in environmental education through interactive storytelling and immersive theatre experiences.

Project Phase

This opportunity marks the second research and development (R&D) phase of our project, funded by the Arts Council Wales. We aim to elevate this project to its performance stage, envisioned as the project's third phase.

Ideal Candidate

The perfect candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in working on immersive theatre and experiences.
  • Understanding that lighting an untraditional performance space requires creative blue sky thinking.
  • Understanding of Immersive theatre and how interaction from audience members with the ‘world’ can have an impact on the lighting.  
  • A comprehensive understanding of the nuances and constraints associated with Arts Council funded projects, particularly regarding timelines and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a valued member of the ‘world building team’ and as part of the larger creative team.
  • Lead on the lighting design, sourcing and implementation of the lighting design.
  • Work collaboratively with the Artistic Director and project team to develop the overall vision for the project through its second R&D phase and prepare it for performance.
  • Understanding of our ethos of collaborative creativity that is inclusive, innovative, and child-friendly, ensuring an immersive and impactful experience for our audience.
  • Navigate the project within the scope of Arts Council Wales' guidelines and timelines.

Important Dates

  3. Two weeks of R&D will be taking place during the first two weeks of June.
