When Ecomusicologist & Conservation Filmmaker, Cheryl Beer awoke with hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis 7 years ago, she could never have imagined that it was the beginning of a new creative practice that would connect her, and audiences across the globe, more deeply with nature. As our Cwrdd Guest for February, Cheryl will talk to us about her most recent research as a Future Wales Fellow with the Arts Council of Wales, entitled 'Sonic Nature: Sensing the Garden of Wales', based at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, where she has installed a hybrid Artist Research Trail attracting more than 3000 visitors.

Cheryl says:

"At first, with my access needs, I wondered how on earth I would be able to engage with the Garden visitors and local community, but in honouring my own requirements, I inadvertently created a model of working that enabled a pathway for wider engagement. I am really looking forward to sharing personal insights into my Sonic Nature journey with Disability Arts Cymru members, as I feel the considerations I have made within the work will resonate with their own creative practices"

What are Disability Arts Cymru's Cwrdd events?

‘Cwrdd’ is the Welsh word for ‘meet’ and that’s exactly what Cwrdd is: a monthly meeting open to all DAC members! Learn more about our Cwrdd events here: https://www.disabilityarts.cymru/post/what-are-our-cwrdd-monthly-events
