Arts Council of Wales is delighted to announce the latest recipients of National Lottery funding through its Create programme. These grants are available for organisations and individuals and support ambitious and high-quality arts projects across Wales that align with the Art Council’s six Strategic Priorities. These are: Creativity; Widening Engagement; Welsh Language; Climate Justice; Nurturing Talent; and Transformation.

“These grants reaffirm our commitment to supporting creative excellence and ensuring diverse voices and perspectives shape the future of the arts in Wales.”
Here is a taste of some of the projects that we have funded.
- Artes Mundi Prize Limited (£101,730) - Artes Mundi is a contemporary visual arts exhibition and prize based in Cardiff that showcases and supports international artists. Held every two years, it includes one of the UK’s largest art prizes. The ARTES MUNDI 11 PUBLIC PROGRAMME will provide an inclusive range of accessible events, workshops, and mentorship opportunities, connecting international themes to local Welsh communities.
- Cwmni Mega Cyf Ltd (£100,000) - "Brenin March" will be a Welsh-language touring theatre production, bringing the legendary tale of the ancient King March ap Meirchion to life for children and families in 15 different locations throughout Wales.
- Butetown Arts and Culture Association (£50,000) - Butetown Carnival 2025 will build on the success of previous years, featuring expanded workshops, larger-scale artistic commissions, and immersive technologies.
- Jones the Dance (£56,584) - "I Remember Myself" is an immersive dance experience that engages audiences in rediscovering and reframing personal memories. Developed in partnership with Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown.
- NoFit State Community Circus Ltd (£50,000) - A large-scale event in Cardiff’s Splott, Adamsdown and Tremorfa areas will bring communities together through performance, music, and cultural celebration.
- Peak Cymru (£53,332) - "Peak Peers 2025-26" will nurture young artists in rural Wales, fostering artistic and ecological engagement.
- Common/Wealth (£51,400) - "Demand the Impossible" is a powerful new theatre production exploring police surveillance and activism, premiering in Newport.
- Ystradgynlais Miners Welfare and Community Hall Trust Ltd (£50,000) - A programme of participatory arts and theatre will continue the Welfare’s legacy as a vibrant cultural hub for the community.
- Artis Community Cymuned (£50,000) - Gyda’n Gilydd 2025 is a dance, music, and film initiative fostering inclusivity and creativity in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
- Joon Dance (£50,000) - A participatory dance programme empowering diverse communities in Pembrokeshire.
- North Wales International Music Festival (£50,000) - The importance of music and the arts in supporting and promoting good mental health is well known and well documented by scientists and psychologists world-wide. In 2025 the North Wales International Music Festival celebrates and investigates the strong links and connections between music and the human mind as we delve into the multi-faceted world of ‘Perceptions’
- Triongl (£50,000) – ‘Is There Anybody There?’ is a new bi-lingual drama by Triongl in partnership with Theatr Soar, Merthyr exploring grief and spirituality.
- Sherman Theatre (£48,836) - This project supports a fourth year of activity as a vital next step in establishing a permanent literary department at Sherman Theatre. Since its establishment in 2021, the department has supported and developed over 500 Welsh and Wales-based writers, through structured initiatives, open access opportunities, and high-quality dramaturgical support.
- Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam (£47,518) –Y Sin ar y Ffin ('The Border Scene') is a network of young people who, with the support of the Menter, will lead on organising gigs, performances, workshops, sessions, and campaigns to promote the Welsh music scene giving quality arts experiences to children, young people and the wider community across Flintshire and Wrexham.
- Cardiff Animation Festival (£35,000) - Cardiff Animation Weekender (17–18 May 2025) is a hybrid festival celebrating animation in Cardiff and online. With a focus on community and social impact, the festival features programmes on wellbeing, the environment, neurodiversity, underrepresented communities, creative development, and support for young people and families.
