The National Library of Wales and Disability Arts Cymru are thrilled to announce the two artists chosen for commissions of £1000 each to make new digital art inspired by the Wales Broadcast Archive.

Congratulations to Cheryl Beer and Rightkeysonly!

Cheryl Beer is an ecomusicologist interested in the relationships between music, sound and nature, particularly within fragile ecologies. Cheryl’s commission will create a piece of digital art through the lens of past and present biodiversity, where Llanelli seagrass, cockles & pickers are experienced through nature-led music, human story & video.

Rightkeysonly is an E.D.M. artist, known for bringing experimental beats and heavy baselines to the music sector of Wales. Rightkeysonly’s commission will create an audio-visual piece that explores what it was like to grow up as a young carer in South Wales, accessing historic representations in the Clip Cymru archive of being a young carer and pressures to be the ‘good homemaker’, especially in terms of the expectations on young women.
