Volcano presents a second season of new short performances by freelance artists from Wales and beyond, following last year's series Solo Duets for the Future.
The idea behind The Shape of Things to Come is to encourage performers to develop new performance modes in front of small enthusiastic audiences. We particularly want to encourage performers who engage with the future, the becoming or “not yet” of subject matter and mode of performance.
Theatre for tomorrow must be risky and participatory; it can also be playful and political. It should be unusual and exciting, alive with all the contradictions that we individually and collectively struggle with right now.
The commissions are currently being awarded, and will be performed from late May at Volcano's home in Swansea High Street.
