Jon is well known and respected in the sector as an arts journalist, academic, writer and critic. Among his many roles he was the BBC Wales arts and media correspondent (2000-2006), inaugural Hay Festival International Fellow (2011-2012) and has written and spoken about theatre on a range of platforms including New Welsh Review, Wales Arts Review, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Wales and Nation.Cymru where he is Books Editor.

Jon is committed to hearing the views of as broad a range of people as possible and will be supported by Council members Ruth Fabby, Gwennan Mair and Devinda de Silva on the steering group for the review that will also include the Arts Council of Wales’ Chief Executive Dafydd Rhys.

The Review will include targeted interviews, public meetings in October and an open to all survey that can be completed here arts-wales.welcomesyourfeedback.net/s/v5a9q0 (before 30 September).

Jon is conducting this review with an ‘open door’ policy and can be contacted on jon.gower@arts.wales.

The findings and recommendations of the Review are expected to be shared at Council’s December meeting and made public in the New Year. The timing of the review coincides with Arts Council of Wales setting out its ten-year strategy and is an opportunity to direct strategic planning for English language theatre in Wales for years to come.
