Talking Art with Paul Edwards and Gus Payne
Wednesday 16 August, 2-4, Free event

We are excited to share with you that we have not one, but two members of The Welsh Group talking about their art that is in the groups current exhibition at Mid Wales Arts -How Green Is My Art? (Thursday to Sunday, 11-40

The Welsh Group chair, Paul Edwards shared how his “drawings contain time, across minutes, hours, sometimes days” and the drawings he is exhibiting with us are increasingly concerned with making time visible. “I see landscape as a subject that allows me to observe change, the action of wind and light, growth and decay - time’s damage. The materials I use to make these drawings are simple - Red earth, ink and paper - but the ideas are complex”

Gus Payne’s  figurative paintings use nature, animals, birds and trees, alongside hoodies, mobile phones, religious iconography and other human constructs. His diverse imagery draws from mythology and folk-lore, alongside ecological and political concerns, drawing the viewer into a fascinating reflective world, set in the post-industrial Welsh Valleys.

Both artists have their work in public and private collections.
Come along and hear them share insights into their work.
