CULTIVATE applications are OPEN! If you’re an artist, theatre-maker, performer, company, or group with a new idea you’d like to explore then we want to hear from you. With applications now open, there is no better time to apply and try out a new idea.

CULTIVATE is The Riverfront's scratch performance night, allowing audiences to meet artists as they share short work in progress performances of brand-new work allowing valuable feedback and vital conversations to take place.

These events are an exciting, fun, experimental and low-key way for performance makers to share new ideas with a live audience. Audiences are invited to feedback on all they see, helping the artist with their development.

The work is always varied and could be something musical, something scripted, something physical, something digital or anything in-between. CULTIVATE offers an open platform for new ideas, whatever they may be.

We're offering Artists/Groups the opportunity to apply for a short residency at The Riverfront. These residencies will be supported by the in-house team, and include five days of dedicated space at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre, tailored technical support for the performance, financial assistance of £200 per Artist/Group for expenses, a filmed version of the work for future development, and guidance from a Creative Producer.

Many CULTIVATE performances have gone on to be supported through The Riverfront & Arts Council Wales for further development.

If you’re an artist, theatre-maker, performer, company or group with a new idea you’d like to explore then get in touch with us and apply now! Applications close on Monday 29th April at 5pm. Apply here!

Want to be a part of the audience? Our CULTIVATE performance will be taking place on Thursday 6 June at 7pm. We're hoping for a year of creativity, experimentation, and performance. Come along, be part of the audience and engage. Book your tickets here!
