Ceramicist Anne Gibbs works from her studio in South East Wales, and is well known in Wales and beyond for her fine and delicate ceramics work. Anne often responds to objects through her arts practice that is conceptual though accessible to explore with pupils of all ages.

During this two-part course you will learn about contemporary ceramics artists working in Wales and beyond, and gain confidence in presenting these artists, their work, and their making process to learners.

Following the new Wales curriculum experience, respond, create framework, you will then go on to explore three simple making processes using both air – dry and kiln drying clays, that can be developed into expressive arts projects.

Aimed at KS2 and 3, the creative process presented in this course is transferable into your school’s local environment, whether that be using found objects, local natural environment or using the collection at a local museum or gallery as inspiration.

The course explores contemporary crafts appropriate for setting up small-scale social enterprises within schools, or in partnership with local cultural organisations.

Please Note
Participants must attend both sessions to benefit from the whole course. A break of a few weeks is required to enable ceramics to dry, be fired and cool.
