Beyond the Border is considered one of the world’s finest international storytelling fe. stivals. Last year, after celebrating its 25thyear we appointed an exciting new Artistic Director, Naomi Wilds and arrangements are well underway for the 2020 festival at a new venue Dinefwr Park and Castle in Carmarthenshire. The nature of festivals is changing and so are we, therefore we’re seeking to appoint new trustees with particular skills to help guide the festival into the future.
What we’re looking for:
Planning and delivering the festival requires a broad range of skills and qualities. The organisation is also more than just a festival. We are involved with projects that develop the artform, use different media and ones that use storytelling as a means of education, improving health and wellbeing and to create positive social change. As a result we’re looking for trustees from a range of backgrounds that will invest the Festival board with important skills and knowledge. We’re particularly interested in hearing from people who can offer knowledge or experience inthe following areas:
- Finance and Accounting
- Business development / Fundraising and Sponsorship
- Commercial Enterprise
- Charity/voluntary organisation governance
- Health & Wellbeing
What’s involved in being a trustee with Beyond the Border:
Our trustee meetings are usually held in the Cardiff area, but remote attendance through Skype is a possibility so distance isn’t necessarily a barrier to being a trustee.
The trustee meetings sow seeds that eventually create that special magic that is the Beyond the Border Festival and its associated projects. Trustees’ input really does make a difference. The meetings cover the initial conceptualisation of the festival along with supplementary projects and then develop the artistic and entrepreneurial aspects that ensure we remain financially sustainable whilst achieving our mission, which is:
To bring stories and people together, from Wales and the world, through an inspirational biennial festival and projects which deepen connection through the power of stories.
How to apply:
If interested, please send us a letter detailing why you are interested in becoming a trustee and what you feel you could offer and outlining relevant experience. Please also detail anything that you are looking to gain from being a trustee.
You can email you letter to email@example.com or post to Baltic House, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, CF10 5FH
