What's the project?

Over three terms a year, National Dance Company Wales and English National Ballet lead a dance course for people with Parkinson's disease. Exploring narrative, characters, themes, concepts and music, the course aims to spark imagination and encourage freedom of expression.

What effect has it had?

Since the project began, participants in the project (those living with Parkinson’s and their carers) have not only developed new dance skills, but have also developed lasting friendships - improving their confidence and lessening feelings of isolation. Getting involved in physical activity helps participants cope with their symptoms, and understand their limitations.

"It's remarkable that sometimes you can't walk but you can dance."
